Is this what Obama accomplished in China last week?
Chinese news reports that China State Construction has won a 0 million contract to build subway improvements in NY City. How is that for pay back? And how does that strike you liberals as what your pres. is doing with our stimulus money?
See: http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/bizchina/2009-11/24/content_9028469.htm
How many more times is Obama going to talk about road construction & clean energy to boost the economy? (#3)?
This is EXACTLY what he said prior to passage of the "stimulus". (We all know how that worked out…)
He then said it AGAIN (in almost identical comments) at the beginning of this year. (Remember how he was going to "focus like a laser beam" on jobs……)
Here’s a question I asked 9 months ago:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApDnxuayd1xfPFLwI.qBGfEjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20091208143852AAUjyu4
Now he’s saying the SAME THING AGAIN
It seems as if the president’s economic team has no clue what to do (which is why they are still pushing the same worn out rhetoric a year and a half after the stimulus). Are you losing confidence in the president?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100830/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_economy
Acknowledging that the economy still remains extremely fragile, the president said he’d also have other specific ideas in the days ahead.
He mentioned extending Bush tax cuts due to expire this year for households making under 0,000 a year, upping the nation’s investment in clean energy, rebuilding more roads and highways and tax cuts designed to keep jobs in the United States.
"My economic team is hard at work identifying additional measures that could make a difference in both promoting growth and hiring in the short term and increasing our economy’s competitiveness in the long term," he said.
Why isn't illegal immigration an issue in the News media right now?
Since there are over 1,500,000 per year added to our country, where do you suppose they are going to work?
Oh, the construction industry, I thought this was one of the area’s the Stimulus would work on. But aren’t those jobs that Americans don’t want to do?
Where is the Media?
Will Obama, Pelosi, and Reid admit that their shovel ready construction stimulus didn't create any new jobs?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100111/ap_on_bi_ge/us_stimulus_unemployment
What do you think of N.C. spending $135,000 on signs that say new construction was funded with stimulus money?
Didn’t Obama say he was going to do this one time?? Put an emblem on all the stimulus projects??
Well now that I have seen it happen, I have to say this is a pretty sad joke.
http://www.wral.com/news/local/wral_investigates/story/6673117/
The state Department of Transportation has spent 5,000 in taxpayer funds to install signs touting road projects paid for with more than 0 million in federal stimulus money.
Signs like one on the Fayetteville loop highway construction project near Fort Bragg aren’t directional and don’t point drivers to any construction detours. They simply note that the particular project was "funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act."
"If we couldn’t laugh, we would be crying," said Ronnie Tart, who owns a used car dealership down the road from the Fayetteville highway project.
Why does FOX news recklessly make "facts" up on the spot? How can they have credibility?
The lastest Republican talking point was about how the stimulus was a pork-laden bill with various pet projects, like a high-speed rail from Disneyland to Las Vegas.
It turns out, this was a complete and utter fabrication:
http://www.factcheck.org/politics/gop_stimulus_myths.html
This lie was repeated numerous times. E.g. John Boehner (House Minority leader, OH rep) stated: "Tell me how spending billion in this bill to have a high-speed rail line between Los Angeles and Las Vegas is going to help the construction worker in my district."
Congresswoman Candice bemoaned: "[A]pparently the Senate majority leader has earmarked billion for a rail system from Las Vegas to Los Angeles? You have got to be kidding. You have got to be kidding." Well apparently they WERE kidding her because it doesn’t exist.
Now it’s certainly not out of character for members of the GOP to lie, distort, and flat-out make things up on the spot; however, how can Fox News claim to be a reputable news organization – "fair and balanced" – when they reported on this erroneous story several times:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200902180010?f=s_search
A simple fact check or actually reading the bill would have cleared the misconception, but Fox News did no such thing and let this lie continue to grow.
How can a news channel that millions watch simply lie like this? Were there fact checkers out sick or laid-off? Where are their journalistic ethics?
How can they have any credibility?
Are Republicans sick to their stomachs over the improving economy?
Obama’s been in office for about 17 months now. You’ll recall that the stock market was crashing at that time. It bottomed out at something like 6600 and now it’s up over 10,000 again which makes for an over 50% increase in less than a year and a half.
The auto industry was in shambles when Obama took over too. The bail outs and the bankruptcies were very controversial at the time, but now we see that Chrysler and GM are clearly making a comeback. GM even expects to sell stock soon. Ford stock is up about 700% in that same time period.
The housing industry was in utter collapse when Obama took office. Even the hardest his areas economically are now seeing clear signs of a quickly recovering construction industry.
When Obama took office the banking industry was right on the brink of collapse. Soon they’ll pay off their loans with interest creating a tidy profit for the American taxpayers.
Leading economic indicators have been trending upwards for well over a year now.
With all of this good news demonstrating that the American economy is making a splendid comeback, are the Republicans sick to their stomachs over the wealth of evidence showing that they have no idea how to run a country and that Democrats can fix the economy no matter how badly the Republicans work to destroy it?
Uncle Pennybags, please educate yourself! A large percentage of the stimulus money was in the form of income tax cuts. Not just tax cuts for George Bush’s rich friends but tax cuts for everybody.
Kibera, Kenya… eminent domain… Obama's homelessness prevention… doesn't anybody get the connection?
Nobody knows what the "homelessness prevention" program is. We just know that our city has received billions of dollars from Obama’s trillion dollar stimulus to fund it.
The Kibera project involves moving the poor into public housing and DEMOLISHING THEIR HOMES.
The excuse given is that their homes are "shabby" construction, "shacks," a "public hazard," and so on.
Oh, my house doesn’t conform to the latest trends in interior decorating. Is it "shabby?" And somebody on a bicycle might crash into my mailbox and get hurt. Is my home a "public hazard?"
Does any of this remind you of the "eminent domain" controversy over "shabby" houses, which went to the Supreme Court before common sense prevailed?
Is Obama using homelessness to renew the eminent domain land grab attempt that was made by the ultra wealthy?
Kami, I re-posted it for your benefit, because you answered before I filled in the details.
I respected you because yours was the only answer that didn’t outright bash me.
Now you’ve done it, too.
Are you one of the 31 Million Americans who is going to THANK the Democrats come November?
Thank them with THEIR Pink Slip?
Unemployment Benefit Claims Reach Half-million Mark
WASHINGTON — Employers appear to be laying off workers again as the economic recovery weakens. The number of people applying for unemployment benefits reached the half-million mark last week for the first time since November.
It was the third straight week that first-time jobless claims rose. The upward trend suggests the private sector may report a net loss of jobs in August for the first time this year.
Initial claims rose by 12,000 last week to 500,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.
Construction firms are letting go of more workers as the housing sector slumps and federal stimulus spending on public works projects winds down. State and local governments are also cutting jobs to close large budget gaps.
The layoffs add to growing fears that the economic recovery is slowing and the country could slip back into a recession.
“The rise in initial jobless claims over the past three weeks makes it difficult to maintain confidence in the recovery and suggests the labor market is backtracking,” Ryan Sweet, an economist at Moody’s Analytics, wrote in a note to clients.

Harry Reid: Illegal Aliens Don’t Work on Construction Jobs in Nevada
www.StandWithArizona.com Just when you though the open borders crowd could not possibly be more out of touch with American workers, comes this gem. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), even when confronted with multiple sources of hard data, denies both that illegal aliens work on construction jobs in his state, and that E-Verify is effective in weeding out illegals from jobs in the first place. Reid opposed making E-Verify the law of the land for construction firms working on Federal “Stimulus” jobs. http www.facebook.com SWA Store: www.cafepress.com Donate to SWA: www.icontribute.us
