Hey all,
I work as the Marketing Director for a construction company and am in need to a good database software that would help me organize and store out project information. Currently, each projects has its own Excel spreadsheet with lines for each detail : Name, Owner, Size, Costs, Architect, etc. This is fine for simply storing, but retrieving the data quickly isn’t really an option.
I’m looking for a database that allows for lots of details and is easy to search. Would also like to store pictures and documents (construction meeting minutes) for each project somewhere in the database, or at least have some sort of link to find them easily.
I just want all the information in one place that is easily searchable for when I’m on a deadline. FileMakerPro has been suggested, but I want to make sure before we spend a lot of money on the program that it’s the best one.

What is the Architect's responsibility with supervising construction?
An owner hires an architect and a builder under separate contracts. The architect designs the project and the contractor builds the design. What is the Architect’s responsibility with supervising construction? Is the architect responsible for construction mis-management, cost over-runs, delays or site safety?

my boss asked me to translate a prefabricated phone conversation from German into Englisch.
Now that I finished, I am very doubtful about it and I think there are many mistakes.
If anyone of you has got some free time, I would be very happy if you take a look at the text.
Just to check if the expressions, the word order times…etc are right.
For some expressions I wrote two options, you can delete the wrong one. (example: start of the construction/construction start)

When was the start of the construction/construction start(?)? When will be the start of the construction?
When will be the end of the construction/construction end?(?)
How high is the construction amount approximately?

An actual specification, drawings, information about special features, for example fronts, copies of press reports, a list of all planners and a register of the craftsmen of involved firms.
Do you already have photos/ model pictures?
Mr./Mrs…….it`s adequate if I have the documents at home the next two weeks, anyway I will send or mail you a cover letter with our complete adress by fax in advance. There you can see everything listed.

Who is responsible for finding out if asbestos is present, a contractor of a project or a home owner?
My construction project was halted by the NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection after a neighbor complained about asbestos present. The contractor did not realize that asbestos was present and neither did the architect, who at one point certified that asbestos was absent. I as a homeowner did not know that asbestos was present and trusted the contractor or the architect to find out if the substance was present. Is the contractor responsible? He is the one who haphazardly modified the asbestos insulation of the house and did not even realize the asbestos was what it was. The project was ordered to be suspended by the NYC DEP and delayed the remodeling for a couple of weeks and costed me about ,000 (including filing fees).
